Empowering Young Women in Chennai
Situation
In Chennai, young women face numerous challenges that hinder their educational and professional aspirations.
Limited access to financial resources, coupled with societal pressures, often restricts their opportunities for growth and independence. For many, pursuing higher education can seem unattainable.

Our Goal
The Alnaus Foundation, in collaboration with the Thomas Foundation for Micro Credits (TFM) and the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, aims to empower young women by providing interest-free study loans.
Our mission is to facilitate access to higher education and promote entrepreneurship, enabling these women to break the cycle of poverty and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Our Initiative
In 2024, we started financing five promising young women through TFM who are embarking on 3 to 4-year educational programs.
The sisters, with their close ties to the children in their care, are uniquely positioned to identify candidates who will benefit most from our support. We plan to extend assistance to ten more young women in 2025 and 2026 and are committed to further scaling our impact.
In 2025, we will also explore possibilities to support these girls and women with additionals enablers such as laptops, additional tutors and potentially start up capital for entrepreneurs to further contribute to their success.

By offering these women the financial means to pursue their education, we are not only investing in their futures but also fostering a culture of empowerment and resilience within their communities.
